|Opportunity Scholarship Program
The Opportunity Scholarship Program expands school choice in North Carolina through scholarship grants for eligible children in kindergarten through 12th grade. This program provides funding of up to $4,200 per year for eligible children who choose to attend a participating nonpublic school.
The 2017-18 school year application for new students has closed and will not reopen. The 2018-19 school year application will open on February 1, 2018. For more information about the Opportunity Scholarship, see the links below.
CHOOSING A SCHOOL: Resources exist that may assist you in choosing a school. North Carolina’s Division of Nonpublic Education registers and monitors nonpublic schools in the State in accordance with State statutes. In addition, Parents for Educational Freedom (PEFNC) is an organization that serves as a resource to help families locate participating schools. PEFNC offers a location-based web service that generates lists of schools by address and zip code based on the individual information you provide. You can access their service, NC SchoolsAroundMe, to get a customized list of the schools closest to you. Neither of these resources is affiliated with SEAA or the Opportunity Scholarship Program.
