RALEIGH, NC (December 3, 2024) – On December 3, 2024, the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) made Opportunity Scholarship award offers to more than 54,000 new students for the 2024-2025 school year.
Additionally, NCSEAA made Education Student Accounts (ESA+) award offers to almost 2,000 new students.
Families of these awarded students completed applications during the 2024-25 application priority period (February 1 – March 1, 2024). For more information about the additional awards, see these Frequently Asked Questions.
Families awarded on December 3rd have until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, to accept or decline the award offer. Families must log into their MyPortal account, go to their To-Do List, and click on “Respond to Award Offer.” Families can also see notifications in their MyPortal account. Award offers that are not accepted by December 27, 2024, will expire. Expired awards cannot be reinstated.
NCSEAA will begin disbursing funds for the fall 2024 semester as well as for the spring 2025 semester in January.

Opportunity Scholarships can be used to pay the required tuition and fees to attend an eligible private school.
The Education Student Accounts (ESA+) Scholarship is available to meet the needs of students with disabilities who qualify for special education services. Funds may be used to pay tuition and fees for eligible private schools, for certain costs incurred by families who home school, and for expenses such as speech therapy, tutoring services, and educational technology.
