How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in the Education Student Accounts (ESA+) program for students with disabilities.

Important Dates

The application opens February 1, 2023 and first-consideration applications are due by March 1, 2023. The application may remain open after March 1, subject to the availability of funds.

Important Documents

As part of the application process, you will be asked to verify that the student has a disability. First-time applicants must submit a current Eligibility Determination from the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP), issued by a North Carolina public school.

Private schools do not have to provide the same special education services as public schools. Parents are encouraged to select a nonpublic school carefully and find out what the school could provide to meet their child’s educational needs.
