Annual Requirements

The statute that governs the K12 Programs requires several annual requirements of Direct Payment Schools.  See below for information on these requirements and whether your school may be required to complete them. This is not an exhaustive list; additional requirements may be asked of your school as needed.

Tuition and Fee Schedule

What is it?

A list of the tuition and fees charged by your school for the academic year. Review our Tuition and Fee Schedule Guide for information on what to include.

Who is required to submit it?

All Direct Payment Schools are required to submit an updated Tuition and Fee Schedule before the start of each academic year, even if the school does not expect to enroll K12 Program recipients for the school year in which the Tuition and Fee Schedule is requested.

What is the deadline and how do I submit it?

Tuition and Fee Schedules for the upcoming school year are due by July 15th each year.  Submit your Tuition and Fee Schedule via the Tuition and Fee Schedule task on your MyPortal Taskpad.

Test Scores

What is it?

The statute that governs the K12 programs requires that Direct Payment Schools submit test score results for all Opportunity Scholarship and ESA+ recipients in grades 3 and higher.  See the Testing and Reporting Process page for more information.

Who is required to submit it?

Any Direct Payment Schools that received funding for a K12 Program recipient enrolled in grades 3 and higher. The statute requires an aggregate report of the 11th grade scholarship students from schools with more than 25 award recipients in the 11th grade.

What is the deadline and how do I submit it?

Test scores for the previous school year are due by July 15th each year.  Submit your test scores via the Test Score Portal.

Graduation Data

What is it?

The statute that governs the K12 Programs requires Direct Payment Schools to report which Opportunity Scholarship and ESA+ recipients have completed the requirements for a high school diploma or its equivalent at the end of each school year.

Who is required to submit it?

Any Direct Payment Schools that received funding for a K12 Program recipient enrolled in the 12th grade.

What is the deadline and how do I submit it?

Graduation data for the previous school year is due by July 15th each year.  Submit your graduation data by completing your Graduation Roster in MyPortal.  See our Graduation Data Instructions for information on how to complete the roster.

Financial Review

What is it?

A complete set of a school’s financial statements, completed by a licensed North Carolina CPA.  See our Financial Review Requirements document for more information on what should be included in the financial review.

Who is required to submit it?

The statute that governs the K12 Programs requires any Direct Payment Schools that enrolled seventy (70) or more students who used scholarship funds from the K12 Programs for at least one semester during the academic year to contract with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to perform a financial review, consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

What is the deadline and how do I submit it?

The financial review must be submitted within 120 days (4 months) of the end of your school’s fiscal year.  Submit your financial review via the financial review task on your MyPortal Taskpad.
