Financial Aid February
As part of Financial Aid Awareness month, NCSEAA and CFNC bring you FAFSA February’s How to Pay for College webinar series. Students and their families are often confused about how to bridge the gap between family funds, financial aid and the total cost of paying for college. Funding a college education shouldn’t be a mystery. Having a better understanding of the funding landscape can help families build a sound plan so students can focus on their studies.
We will cover all the important topics you need to know to pay for college:
Week 1 – How to Pay for College
Funding for college can come from a variety of different sources. In this session, we’ll give an overview of the main ways to pay for college, including financial aid and share examples of places students can look for gap funding.

Week 2 – NC State Aid
NCSEAA manages the State’s financial aid programs including Next NC Scholarship, the need-based scholarship for students attending private colleges, Aubrey Lee Brooks Foundation Scholarship, Golden LEAF Scholars Program, and Forgivable Education Loans for Service (FELS), among others. Join us in this session to learn about each program and their eligibility requirements.

Week 3 – FAFSA Walkthrough
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step to unlocking financial aid at the federal, state, and institutional level. In this session, we’ll walk you through the 2025-26 FAFSA form for dependent students. Be sure to bring your questions.

Week 4 – Evaluating Financial Aid Offer Letters
The cost of going to a private college can be very different from going to a public college or university so it can be hard to compare the financial aid award offers you receive from each institution. In this session, we will help you understand the financial aid award packages you received so you can make the best choice for your education goals.
