NC EXTRA Loans and NC Assist Loans

A man studying at a table in front of two whiteboards.

Why are my CFI loans at NCSEAA?

The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) is the state student loan guaranty agency for loans made by College Foundation, Inc. (CFI). EXTRA Loans and NC Assist Loans are transferred to NCSEAA when a borrower defaults (for most student loans you will default if you have not made a payment to CFI in more than 270 days).

Consequences of Default

Default can have several long-term financial consequences. Defaulted EXTRA loans and NC Assist loans risk being referred to the North Carolina Attorney General’s office for litigation if you do not satisfactorily resolve the debt.
